MACHINE OPERATIVE ROLE
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Machine Operative position based in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy manufacturing environment producing high-quality carpet tiles. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating production machinery, monitoring manufacturing processes, and ensuring products meet the required quality standards.
Main Duties
- Operating production machinery safely and efficiently.
- Preparing raw materials and loading them onto machines.
- Setting up and monitoring tufting and manufacturing equipment.
- Carrying out machine checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Inspecting finished products for defects and reporting any issues.
- Packing, labelling, and preparing finished products for dispatch.
- Moving quality-checked products to the dispatch area.
- Recording production figures and quality control information.
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards throughout the production area.
- Following all Health & Safety and company procedures.
- Working closely with Team Leaders and colleagues to achieve production targets.
- Assisting with loading and unloading materials when required.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities and maintaining high quality standards at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous machine operating experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Production or warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to follow work instructions and operating procedures.
- Good attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Comfortable with manual handling and lifting duties.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Forklift experience (Counterbalance or Reach Truck) would be advantageous.
- Willingness to undertake further training, including FLT training opportunities.
Shift Pattern (3 Shift Rotation)
Week 1
- Monday to Friday
- 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2
- Monday to Friday
- 10:00pm – 6:00am
Week 3
- Monday to Friday
- 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Candidates must be able to work all three rotating shifts.
Pay & Benefits
- £14.79 per hour
- Overtime paid at 1.5x rate (£20.46 per hour)
